Alois Senefelder Monument
350 years after Gutenberg in the year 1799 the Lithography was invented as the first planographic printing. The artificer of lithography was Alois Senefelder (1771-1834). The monument reminds on the important historic discovery of 150 old lithographic stones in the year 1984. At this time 150 stones, out of the year 1850, were found during sewer works in the area where the old publishing- and printingbuilding of Johann Andre and the first place of activities of Alois Senefelder were located. The monument stands now directly on this place. On the other hand the monument refers to all well-known archives around the world. The stones were storraged vertically next to each other in shelves.
