The Jewish Community of Frankfurt am Main is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its founding this year. After the Shoah, Jews asked themselves whether they could start again in Frankfurt. For the majority of returnees and homeless people, a future in Germany was difficult to imagine. Many emigrated, but some stayed and founded new communities. They rebuilt facilities such as kindergartens, old people's homes, synagogues, and schools. Its history in the second half of the 20th century shows the path of an increasingly self-confident community that positions itself in urban society.
The umbrella of the Unity Community brings together the diversity of contemporary Judaism and aims to create a common place for the pluralistic Jewish community. The exhibition tells the story of action and change in twelve chapters. It shows Frankfurt's history of building, rebellion, and revival.
Studio Kai Linke developed the exhibition design on two floors and in collaboration with graphic studio Bureau Sandra Doeller.
